Basically, from about the 1950's onward when American consumerism really took off, people would look at whatever cool stuff their neighbors has (a new car, a fancy lawnmower, a new coat of paint on the house, a swimming pool) and so they would accumulate debt just to have all the same stuff their neighbors had.
So to apply this to tit jobs, women are staring at each other's unrealistic tits on Instagram and other internet sites where models put them on display, and so they feel like they need to keep up with that.
