fun fact: out of all of the natural satellites in the solar system, the moon of earth is the weirdest. It's too big, it's too fast, it's made out of weird stuff with a metal core that rings like a bell, and so on. There is no widely accepted theory on the origin of our moon- we constantly create new theoretical models for the moon's origin because each model always has some hole in it. The most likely truth is that the moon was created through a rare coincidence of a multi-impact scenario or the like.
