>>10570150* It takes far more effort to be healthy on a vegan diet, but it's not impossible. See pic related, Frank Medrano is ripped to shreds and a jaw-dropping calisthenics athlete. That's just one example. There are plenty of pro athletes who went on vegetarian or vegan diets to to try and heal an injury, accelerate weight loss, or gain an edge, and some have been successful at it.
* Nutrition is a very complicated, and I think everybody's body has adapted in different ways, and vegan diets wouldn't work for some people for very long. My guess is that the average person isn't going to be as healthy as they can be incorporating meat into their diet. That said, you can make a vegan diet work if you're scientific about getting all of your needed nutrients.
* The high correlation between lefty politics and vegans seems difficult to ignore. My guess is that some vegans adopt it due to feeling guilty about their privilege; nothing to do with race, but economics.
* The nuttiness of some on the far left who espouse vegan diets shouldn't distract from the good points they make about the healthiness of vegetables, nuts, fruits, etc. Most people in rich western countries are deficient in that area, and we do see high levels of obesity and heart disease and other problems due to bad diets.
* Most people would be better off adopting something closer to a paleo or keto diet than a vegan or vegetarian one. That's far more practical. The low fat diet craze that was pushed is pure retardation.
* Veganism (or even vegetarianism) is pure privilege. If you can willingly afford to ignore some of the best sources of calories and nutrients, you're probably in the top 1-5% of income worldwide.
* I'm not against trying non-animal based dishes. But sadly, most of them don't compare to meat in terms of taste and enjoyment.
