>>10320113>What's the conection between the word gnostic and agnostic?Gnostic came from the greek "gnosis", and simply mean "knowledge". Gnostics want are the seeker of truth and knowledge outside the material world, while still living on it
An agnostic, in the modern term, is simply someone who belief it's impossible to determine if something external to the material world exist of not. As you can immagine the two term are mutually exclusive
>Also, what other creatures/entities like Abraxas are there in Gnosticism?Others gnostic entities are the Aeons, emanation of the One, the primordial God, that can be considered either angelic beings of something similar to the Platonistic ideas that radiate from te One like the ray of lights from the sun. Together the One and his Aeons form the Plemora, the true world outside the material world, a fake copy of it
The two most important aeons are Sophia, a female Aeon that accidentaly created the Demiurge (and thus the material world) in trying to undestand the One, and Christ himself, a male Aeon and spouse of Sophia (often claimed to be Mary Magdalene) sent by the One to free the sparks of plemora trapped here after Sophia gave accidentally birth to this world: the sparks are us, the gnostics
