“What?” Cassie snaps.
“I-I’m very sure he was just a regular jock. After she left with the guy, I followed them all the way to some seedy motel just outside Hobopolis. I think that’s where she’s staying. A-and that’s all I know. It was two people having a one night stand if you ask me. Nothing out of the ordinary at all. Your cousin just seems like a run of the mill party girl, nothing suspicious about her.”
Cassie slams a fist against the table. “You listen to me and you listen good, boy,” she snaps, glaring at the man at least ten years her senior. “I don’t pay you to tell me when to be suspicious and when not to be. I KNOW when someone’s hiding something, and Lexi is most definitely hiding something. Now maybe it’s nothing worth me caring about. But maybe it is.”
Cassie’s sighs, before continuing to speak, her voice now quiet and low. “Did you at least get the name of the motel Lexi is staying at?”
“The Infinity Nights Motel,” he replies.
“Thank you. But you still blew your chance at a promotion. Now get out and call the other two in. ”
The henchman nods slowly, and leaves, before two other men enter.
One is blonde, in his late twenties and clad head to toe in gold. Liam Lonergan, one of Cassie’s operatives dating back to her time in Ireland.
The other is a black man in his early to mid twenties named RJ, who only joined Cassie’s organisation after the expansion to Spaghetti Town, but managed to climb the ranks quickly due to his ability to design state of the art weaponry.
Cassie turns to Lonergan. “I need eyes on Kanako. She used to be a dojo girl, right? Head there and keep an eye out for her.” Lonergan nods and leaves, and satisfied that her suspicions of her cousin haven’t distracted her from the threat of Deathproof, Cassie then turns to RJ. “And I need you to drive me out to The Infinity Nights Motel. Near Hobopolis. I’ll get to the bottom of what Lexi is really up to myself.”
