Well, the methods that work are considered pseudoscience by many. Or at least they aren't society approved methods. I don't see how they can't see, it's obvious. Any government, no matter the ideology, will try to do things in such a way that children grow up to be obedient and stay out of the way. None of them care about the welfare and happiness of the average individual.

When I was little I had to wait minutes for any high resolution image to load, and I barely could play a few shitty looking videos. Games were expensive and so were consoles and PCs. A PC that could run games was only for the rich kids. So if I did get a game then that's what I had to play for months on end (Final Fantasy games were long, I liked those). And there was actual content in them, no dlc and any such bullshit.
