most of them have greenhouses and are open to the public though so you havent got it completely wrong.
theres a load of them here from the victorian era and some are even earlier than that.

the tropical greenhouse or hothouse is seperate and not as fancy but its the one that has the swampy smell, its actually kinda a nice smell so i understand ur wanting to smell it.
im not sure what the name of the type of enclosed garden ur thinking of is but greenhouse is kinda a catch all term for the various types of indoor gardens.
