I was actually really hyped for Kill la Kill because of the names associated with it and excited to see what Trigger did afterwards because I thought Kill la Kill was pretty good.
As much as I like Imaishi and Nakashima, I still think people overrate them. They weren't even the best from Gainax and it just feels like they're trying to recapture what they did 15 years ago while missing the point entirely.
Flip Flappers and Symphogear did what Trigger keeps trying to do but better.

The drought of good releases between KLK and Gridman, combined with DiTF really killed my faith in Trigger, and Promare visually made me want to gouge my eyes out.
