The infographic does not, in fact, say that netorare is the most popular genre in Japan or among the Japanese public. That's a fucking wild extrapolation to make. It really says that it is the most popular genre among users on ONE hentai website. But even that is wrong and misleading, because what the article, the image, the translators, and the mentally ill NTRfags have been conveniently ignoring is the little asterisked bits that say how the data was obtained.
Popularity among users was determined by the number of times a tag was searched for.
Popularity among creators/circles was determined by the number of created works with that tag.
Notice how NTR isn't even listed on the right side.
Now, let me break down why the number of times searched is NOT a good measure of popularity compared to the number of created works.
