Usuall when I start a playthrough I'll usually just pick a place with a legendary weapon I want for that run and go there immdeiately. My favorite DLC area to go out the gate is Honest Hearts, though me and friend tried playing through Lonesome Road and got softlocked right at the battle with Ulysses.
