using this and the tradition of the Harrowing of Hell we can generate an origin for the Exorcists since we know that the Exorcists are past humans who are now angels. We can imagine many of these Exorcists are humans who endured Hell before Christ's Descent and are taking vengeance on sinners and demons now.

I wanted to specifically have meetings between Christ and the Sins (maybe not Lucifer but at least the rest of them). See how the old humans lived in Hell before all of the Harrowing and such we can use the following to say that all humans originally were in Hell
"Dear brothers, think about this! You can be sure that the patriarch David wasn’t referring to himself, for he died and was buried, and his tomb is still here among us...For David himself never ascended into heaven" - use this to say all humans were sent to hell, from Acts.
of course this doesn't explain why the Exorcists are doing the cleanse as it says nothing of what went on in heaven but it does give us some motivation for the exorcists. Also we can AU and say that the cleanse is a recent invention and wasn't performed until recently.
