Sure, you'll get people being like "well in the bible it says XYZ" but those things can be endlessly debated. Scientific truths cannot. Also, there's no such thing as "just trusting" the scientists. They have to prove, through repeated observation/replication, their findings to be true. The scientists can say things that are true or incorrect, but in religion it's all just speculation.
