The scared part was because of what I've read of the coming mini ice age and fear the implications of this and because I've got relatives that are a little old or sick and colder weather and colder climate is bad for them. Snow in places where it rarely happens confirms a little my suspicions of that being true.

Old people come to live here precisely because it is more temperate here than in the Meseta. It must suck to live in inland Spain.
