Nutritionally, there is nothing lost except B12. Philosophically, both tend to be about animal welfare, except in the case of people doing it for nutritional reasons. Vegans are definitely on the more extreme end which is why it's so politically associated. Those extremists are a tiny minority but are very, very loud because modern society gives insane people platforms to preach their leftist drivel. That bad rep is undeserved, especially being that veganism, in other terms, goes all the way back to the Bible, where God originally commanded people to abstain from meat, until the flood. Or in that Orthodox monks and old Catholics still forbid the consumption of meat when sick, or certain proscriptions during Lent, etc.
