Why Syd and Melb may be expensive its where the opportunity is and its where people flock to make there way. If your going less major make sure you have a plan and employment sorted because it could be rougher. Also 'small town' can be equally soul sucking with limited stimulation, infrastructure and being car reliant and generaly a socially isolated dull shithole unless your a chill surfy. A more prepared man would travel the country first to find a place to land and hopefully clear any rose coloured glasses. Your English is perfect, if you can type like a local or better yet an educated person you can certainly speak it like one.
