Religion and tribalism just happen to largely originate from the same neurological mechanisms which means someone with more active threat perception instincts is also going to be easier to groom into being religious with the threat of hell. Right wingers who leave religion don't suddenly become left wing. In fact right wingers who leave christianity tend to become less tolerant of outsiders.
