The same is true of characters like Hein, Catherine, Prickett, etc. Moreover the music remains consistent even if much of it is free domain and the OST is amazing in general. If it weren't for the c*nny/shota/gore it would be bordering on yume nikki/witch's house tier relevance but instead it remains a cult classic.
Also it genuinely has the best story of any game in a decade.
