i feel like i've told you about my arty experiences. get coordinates, relay message to COC and they'll relay that message to HQ (Geronimo) to send rounds. few seconds later, boom. i've also convoyed with artillery multiple times if that counts. through training and actual deployment.
this isn't related to arty but our mortar guys needed to fire illum rounds this one time because we had a foot patrol taking fire at night. i was at the smoke pit smoking a cigarette waiting for me to get called into the COC. if they needed help i'd jump in but there was another radio operator handling the situation. while i was waiting, the mortar guys needed weight on the base plate to shoot. i ran to them and stood on the base plate. dear god, mortars are so loud. my ears were plugged but the sound was just reverberating through my body and my plate carrier moved so much despite it being cinched down. not to mention the weight of ammunition in the pouches and sapi plates.
