I do not believe they are character flaws, there are advantages and disadvantages to each, and they are an inherent part of our 'default' psychological state. Our minds are the way they are because our ancestors had reproductive success like this. If it were more advantageous for us to not be like that, we would all be ambiverts, but it's not (or at least, wasn't), so we're not.
