Without trying to sound like Freud, fear and sex are probably tied together somewhere. there is something drawing and alluring about meeting your greatest fear head-on, the same kind of feeling a sweaty obsession born from psychosis gives you where you hate the idea but are uncontrollably drawn to it as well out of fascination. I think that is why horror is a medium.
