>>22115742you're clearly a decent bloke to have come to these conclusions, there are definitely people out there who have these internal conflicts and choose the easy path of being a prick all the time and blaming the world for their problems
the trouble with always "keeping the status quo" and "being understanding" while assuming everybody else just does what they like, is it's always you making concessions
when we assume nobody else thinks it's worth holding back for the sake of others, we start scrutinising every decision we make for ourselves as if we're being judged by the whole world - whereas if someone else came to you with that same decision for themselves, I'd bet you would naturally be supportive and "understanding"
I spent a lot of my formative years suppressing my less-socially-acceptable interests because I was already a software developer and I didn't want people pigeon-holing me as a "weird nerd" and I wanted to be "one of the good ones" - turns out all it got me was identity issues and I didn't change a single person's outlook
now I'm in my thirties just doing whatever I like and the only people whose opinions I care about are all supportive
