>>18671759The men at work are this way too, they choose to work harder not smarter, they won't take training for advancement if a mentor or senior has not already done so. They carry their highschool dynamic with them their entire life. Shy guys will go on for years and never ask out a crush. They will stay in the same shit position for years at their company.
They were not hard to advance past. Which is why I stayed on. I know their shit culture about when to drink or talk or where to sit and violated it on purpose because they expect it of an American, which let me also be more bold and ask for things like kudos and recommendations for advancement from skip managers and they are too polite to decline. I am not using them, I did perform ahead of the rest of the team. The higher ups would not recommend me if I did not, they just think it is bold of me to ask.
In the US, advancement takes roughly 4 years of high performance, per level. In Japan I advanced twice in one year. So now I am a Staff level researcher and trained global teams and made tens of millions on my projects. And I got to get my dick wet with some Asian chicks. Life is good.
