i used to do it all with some online compression website going through each folder sorted by size and manually renaming but it was insanely tedious. found a free program called caesium and found out you can search all subfolders by putting ~ in the file explorer search bar. now i can just pull up everything sorted by size, drag in everything above 2mb, and press a button to have it overwrite the images with the compressed ones.
