>>20414136Delilah reads Cassie’s text again. Impress her. This was a challenge. Delilah removes her glasses, and mulls her situation over for a few moments. She had to think of this from Cassie’s point of view. Cassie was self made. Rose from nothing to be where she is now. To someone like that, Delilah, hired as a favour to her father, wouldn’t inspire much respect.
So that’s what this was. Cassie wanted her to pay her dues. Delilah takes a deep breath. Her previous, and so far only venture into the ring was against Steeli Yastuffi. A no DQ match of all things. It did not go well. But she needed to try again. And to do better, in a way that’d really catch Cassie’s eye.
There’d be no better way to do that than by going after someone the boss hated. Kanako? No, Kasumi was already on the case. Maybe one of the other members of Deathproof? No, that wouldn’t be enough, Cassie had no real reason to have strong feelings on any of them beyond an extension of her feelings about Kanako.
And then Delilah’s thoughts shift to a recent WWA broadcast. To one woman in particular. Cactus Jane. Cassie HATED that… creature. It was before Delilah’s time, but she had been told Cactus had attacked Cassie during Club Xtacy’s opening night, and the boss certainly was the type to hold a grudge.
A chill goes down Delilah’s spine as she pictures Cactus’ face. No. No, this was not the time for fear. Cactus needed an opponent, and no one had stepped up. But if she did, if she stepped up to someone Cassie hated, especially someone as dangerous as Cactus Jane, would that be enough to impress her?
There was only one way to find out.
