Only qualified builders and tradies, all paperwork in order, approved etc. Houses cost huge amounts and almost no Australian my age and younger will ever own one outright (they might take out a $400,000 loan and pay off most of it in a lifetime of work). Houses will be investments for rich ppl and foreigners.
Modern houses are usually one story, flat and spread out (mostly cos we had plenty of land, though now they are cramming large houses right next to each other to make more money)., Almost never have a basement (possibly it takes a lot to dig the ground).
