>>13928339I was ten years old at that time. Pokemon, Dragon Ball, Monster Rancher, just anime in general was beginning to blow up and get popular, Square RPGs on PS1, Eminem, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera just dropped their debut albums, and everyone was freaking out about Y2K.
But I think the biggest thing was that the internet was just catching on and becoming mainstream. I have such fond memories of being on my shitty AOL 56k dial-up looking at anime sites on
Anipike.com and hanging out in AOL chat rooms.
So many things that changed our culture and the world were just starting to hit us, from the music we listen to, the celebrities who have since become immortalized in our culture, to the internet, to video game franchises like Final Fantasy, to the anime phenomenon, all of it was just taking off.
And it was fucking amazing to watch it all rise at the same time.
I miss my youth.
