We're in 2025, which by all estimations should be The Future™ with utopian sci-fi shit and all that, cures for cancer, balding, common commercial genetic engineering, you name it.
Instead we get planet of the apes in real time with nigs and spics and various third worlders infesting the planet, and are no closer to curing cancer or balding or anything major, still largely using 50+ year old "treatments" like chemo and hair plugs and shit. Oh but you have the internet at least, so fucking hooray.
