China does not want to see a Japan-Korea-America alliance in any form and has done their best to undermine relations.
Japanese and Americans largely reject the stories but Koreans eat it up for some reason. The funny thing is Korea and Japan were friends during the war. Most of the stories you hear about bad things happening are Chinese inventions -- propaganda stories. Japan had high ranking Koreans in their officer ranks, even. Japan and Korea were like the US and UK back then.
