i didn't see the person, but we only work on commercial laptops and he had a warranty worth so much that they literally just sent him a new computer altogether

i did end up arriving late, but nothing came of it. apparently our class-style training was pretty rushed and the people overseeing us today didn't realize that was the case. between that and the setup today being a bit disorganized it was kind of disorienting and there was a lot more twiddling my thumbs than i would've liked, but overall it was solid and i'm still confident i won't have a problem moving on up relatively quickly
