however i spent years reading literature and most miss the point, that you have to follow the noble eightfold path in the correct order.
it doesnt start with right concentration right away. first you need to cultivate right views.
then the right intention, then the right speech and so on.
you can not speedrun it. in the end it is brahmayana, the path to the absolute.
you do not want to start to "meditate" right away and there are risks associated with "meditation".
think about the four noble truths.
and if you endure hardships, suffering, simply recongnize that it was always like that. it was never enough, it was never fulfilling. you just attached to it.
dont get drawn into sectarian nonsense. dont read monk commentaries, but stay with the original literature.
for example do metta meditation. sit down, wish yourself happiness and health.
read about the Brahmaviharas and cultivate them.
buddha never denied the soul, he just used a via negativa methology to show you what is not the soul.
