>>16700234>>16700240The problem was exactly that literal intepretation is impossible because it's too contraddictory. The other layers were added to put a band aid on the problem and let it sit without causing too much trouble.
This was because after the fall of Rome monasteries in rural communities accumulated the remnants of lost knowledge, and categorized it in the "human" and "divine" part. The problem was that logic - especially aristotelian when it was discovered - broke a lot of theology, and so the whole cursus honorum was built in such a way as to stifle the purely philosophical mind. Philosophy was called the "handmaid" of theology, this is also represented in saint Thomas stopping before the cave of resurrection while the other apostles cross in: he represents reason. A thing can't change from his roots, christianity is inherently subversive, and despite having at their fingertips the lost knowledge of the ancients their faith stifled its rediscovery to the point even now, so-called modern and postmodern philosophy doesen't integrate the basic truths of the ancients. It all starts with christianity, and to end it all we must overcome it first.

Despite that it remains a rejection of the warrior ethos, as despite the entire religion essentialy being the way it is as a shield against the aggressive mudskins, it still preaches those concepts of equality in the eyes of god that will, after long periods of peace, start again the cycle of decline.
>>16700237That was meant to show how corrupt the church is. Catholics and christians in general hold it in high importance despite it being a cornerstone of the eltie pedo trade. And that's just what's commonly known, not mentioning certain interesting "parties" the higher ups (who have the final word on theology btw) hold in remote parts of my country,
