This movie is a follow up to Alien..
We're going in circles around this concept it seems. There has to be a reason, like the movie implies, humans keep being "creative" and yet coming up with the exact same stuff, same stories, similar characters. Jung and Campell blow your minds away talking about it too.
Personally I don't know if it's "alien" so much as
1) Something or multiple things evolved consciousness here before we did.
2) Consciousness is a signal being sent through the universe and when you receive it you're just compelled to do things like make art and megaliths?
3) Planet's conscious and we're part of that and subconsciously communicating with it?
4) Consciousness is so lonely it needs to keep looking for or making signs of other ones?
