>>18444932Nearing the end of a hard-fought battle, their opponents are formidable. When Kasumi locks the Tequila Sunrise on Lillith, Andi flinches for a moment, but then notes where they are and that Lillith seems comparatively fresh. There's a time for getting involved and a time for counting on and trusting your team, and Andi knows the right choice.
>"COME ON, LILLITH! YOU CAN DO IT! GET TO THE ROPES, YOU'RE NOT FAR, YOU CAN MAKE IT! I BELIEVE IN Y--"Lillith taps out. The bell rings.
>".....shit."That, as it turns out, was the wrong choice. Lillith needed her. She'd been there for Andi and Robyn countless times in this match, and then when she needed her, Andi stood on the apron, yelling like an idiot. Reeling with shock and instant piercing regret, Andi jumps down off of the apron, blurting out an apology.
>"Lillith. Lillith, oh my God, I'm so fucking sorry....."Andi looks at Lillith and sees the pain and disappointment on her face through blurry, stinging eyes, and she has to look down in shame. She hears a voice in the back of her head, dry and old and tired.
["I made the mistake of believing in you, in the face of all evidence to the contrary, one more time."]
Andi stands there, helpless and numb, as a scattering of boos and jeers ring through from the crowd. Facing the consequences of her failure is brutal, but she owes her friends at least that. Running away would be far worse. She looks at Lillith again, then over to Robyn, and finally takes a long, distant stare into the ring at Cassie Kade, miserable and devoid of any will to fight.
