So the Annuna are nothing but you and I technologically advanced humans that had lost their entire surface infrastructure to a Cataclysm (probably when North America was zapped by the massive Thunderbolt that created the Canyon).
After that the most important thing to set up was the:

There is also a shitton of Gold all over South America and to get it all out they used the same Methods as they had used in Egypt (Chemicals).
