The difference isn't that men have interesting hobbies and women do not (although it can be said that since men 1.) aren't as risk averse and 2.) need to demonstrate some kind of unique usefulness to attract a better mate, and thus those with exciting hobbies will tend towards being men), but that men and women approach their hobbies differently.
Women don't genuinely have interests, whereas men do. Men, as a rule of thumb of course, actually engage meaningfully with their hobbies and develop a genuine caring about the hobby itself, as men are more capable of engaging really with abstract concepts.
Women only engage in hobbies insofar as they can demonstrate to others that they are engaging in said hobby. Interests only matter to women if they can show off that fact to others. Having an interest is nothing more to most women today than buying an expensive item. All it is is a status symbol.
Another poster in this thread saw it very clearly: women don't care about traveling per se – they care about traveling in luxury (and then taking a picture of themselves doing it to show off).
