But to answer you, and like other anons said, it's expending energy and putting on a display for social points. It's why women (roasties) seem to love it more than men. Also it's basically a mating display so they can get attention and attract Chad.
I also have a theory that's it's an NPC thing. The little bit of autonomy NPCs use, they're able to let go of while "dancing" so they can be fully brainless. An NPC loves doing everything fully automated, unlike real people who are cognizant of everything and more.
