>>10842153I used to steam my veggies with a double boiler setup and a strainer. I usually only did it with greens, mushrooms, carrots, peppers and other non starchy veg. Potatoes, beets or the like I always baked in an oven or fire. I feel like that definitely maximizes the flavor for each. Threw that stuff together with some brown rice and chicken, eggs or fish I pan roasted with onion/garlic/herbs, nearly every night. Sometimes I'd sub the meat out for beans or nuts. So worth it for the minimal effort it took and it complemented my weight loss super well. Once I went back to eating "normal" with my now wife, all my work was undone.
