She is what is known as a Discalced Carmelite Lay nun, as she and my dad remained married. She was retired NYPD, so she had a lot of, let's say, 'baggage' in her soul by the time she retired.
So, they took separate bedrooms, my dad happily moving downstairs to a room off the veranda overlooking the Caribbean...very much in his glory, really.
One of his favorite bar stories, besides the old one describing her as 'Dickless Tracey" was now topped off with the one where he says: " Yeah, my wife is a Nun. You know, as in 'none'."
He was a riot. We were pals.
I was his first, is favorite, and I basically grew up in neighborhood bars from a young age..hearing ALL of his sea stories, which usually began with one of his mates eyeing me, to warm my dad tht M..... was right there aside him.
That's when he'd pause a moment, turn to me and say "Don't tell you mother".
To this day NO ONE in my family has ever heard these stories, and never will. They remain *my* little gems.
According to my dad, he wouldn't be surprised to find I had brothers and sisters from Singapore to Bremerhaven.
>I spent 12 years being taught by nuns. It was awesome, basically a college-level education. I lucked out. Gym was yoga, taught by a dance teacher. Pic is back in the day when the Police Women's Bureau put on Annual Balls the Astor or Waldorf Astoria Hotels. Load of fun.
