>>15042866Furfaggotry unironically isn't that weird, anthro animals have been ubiquitous in human culture for as long as human culture has existed. Even when it comes to the sexual aspect it isn't, just look at how many "I'm not a furry but..." replies there always are when someone posts a lewd picture of Lola bunny or Ankha or whoever. By the way, I'm not trying to go "b-being into furry is normal guise please stop bullying me!" I don't give a shit if people don't like me for being into it or not. I'm just pointing out that as far as internet fetishes go, wanting to fuck anthros is pretty damn tame compared to other fetishes that aren't nearly as despised.
The reason I say all this is because I don't think that the premise behind the furry fanbase is the reason they're hated. It's the way that many of them behave in general that gets the fanbase it's bad reputation. There are a million things furries do that annoy and enrage people (which this video explains better than I ever could:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr83bUMaZXc), and I think root cause of that behavior is that it's not the behavior of furries per se, but the behavior of people who center their lives around being furries. It isn't the behavior of people with a casual interest (or fetish) in animal characters, but rather the part of the community whose main personality trait is "I'm a furry". And since these are usually the only furries you ever really "see" (you're much less likely to notice someone is a furry if they don't call themselves one), a lot of people end up assuming that this is what all of them are like.
