sure the disciples of jesus were hebrews and later greeks etc
but all the orthodox nations converted to orthodoxy at one point or another, maintaining their languages (and largely their culture, ofc minus most of the pagan stuff)
would you have said to the germanics "don't follow this luther guy, stay with your catholic culture", i doubt it
he wouldn't have to assimilate into being a greek any more than bulgarians have
it would prob make it easier for him, yes, since the orthodox are still recovering from caliphates and communists, so can't afford to spread the gospel too much, and when they do it's to nearby nations (like finland, japan, baltics, etc)
but that should get better as time goes on
