I was an Infantry grunt for 11 years and went to some pretty interesting places, and killed some people in the process. I don't feel like more of a man for taking the life of some poor slob that was essentially doing the same thing I was doing, just worse than me. I also don;t think about it as much as I used to.
I will say though, that in the moment there is nothing that compares to the feeling that you are being actively hunted by another human, and replying in kind. It was always kill or be killed, and more so watching out for my buddies. I'm happy to share some stories if anyone is interested, my vivanse is kicking in and I have nothing to do today.
