I think Kushites with their leopard skin clothing, their tiny mastabas, and their tribal wars in the Sudan and the Lands of Punt were pretty badass in comparison even if they were invaded, enslaved, forced to extract gold for northern Egypt, and had their children taken to make into royal emissaries/court subjects. Northern Egypt is a history filled with stagnation and constant invasions by Shems, Assyrians, and Babylonians.
