If a meteor came and destroyed us, modern atheists would chalk it up to bad luck and say everything was fine until the meteor. This way, we are seeing where our sinful actions get us... like teaching a child a lesson by letting him eat Halloween candy till he pukes, so that he can see you are trying to protect him from his own stupidity, not just spoiling his fun.
