>>2441189Just watched it. Felt like an asshole for laughing, but it was pretty fucking funny.
Coming from somebody who has a dual degree in both elementary ed/special ed, what really pisses me off is how people without disabilities interact with people who have disabilities (both mental and physical). I'm sure you and I have both seen the videos, "Girl Asks Boy With Autism To Prom" or "Meet Jared, My Friend With Cerebral Palsy". Shit like this.
I have worked with people who have disabilities for the past 5 years and also have family members with MS, PTSD, Autism, and who have missing appendages. I think most of those videos are made for the non-disabled individuals to either virtue signal or try to get attention. You see comments like, "God bless your kind heart for helping make this boy's prom memorable."
Again, I realize that this isn't the case for ALL situations as the ones I described, however these videos disgust me for the most part. This population has definitely gained acceptance and appreciation over the years, but there is still a long road ahead for all parties.
