>>1979364>>1979434These two maps show my rationale for the Eastern borders.
In more general terms, I included all of Prussia, plus Lower Silesia, but gave Posen to the Poles. I left the partition of Upper Silesia as is, since it essentially bisected a very mixed German/Polish region which was difficult to trace round population centres.
Also added territory to East Prussia, including Memel Land, which the Lithuanians had annexed... I forgot. In the 20's?
Sudetenland was a given, I tried to do a more nuanced job of it (as with the border with Poland), along ethnographic lines, rather than the heavy-handedness that those on both sides engaged in.
>>1979475>the only region of note in german lands were they still spoke a dialect closer to dutch than german around the start of the 20th century was KleverlandI'm willing to go further back. The Netherlands as a power were really fucking done over by both the Habsburgs and the Napoleonic Empire. I'm sure had they not been messed with in that respect, they could have maintained a greater presence in those historically Dutch regions.
>Why are you interested in this topic anyway OP? German roots? I'm intrigued.German, Dutch, Swiss, Friesian, yes.
Pic related is a condensed version of my family tree where I terminate at every individual whose own heritage was considerably homogeneous to all knowledge.
If you break my ancestry down, it comes out at around a mite over 50% British Isles, a mite under 6% Slavic, and a mite under 44% Continental Germanic.
