It definitely is man-made because there is a consensus to keep the inflation around 2%. Money printing isn't a meme. Fiat money has been created out of thin air since time immemorial.
If you don't control it artifically you will have upswings and downswings comparable to the crypto market and stock market. Food prices could triple in a year or go down 50%. This leads to new problems which would cost producers and consumers more time and money (look at Venezuela or Turkey).
