>>21397741>logical senseJust because something is logical doesn't mean it can help you. For instance, telling someone the odds or consequences of their failure in an all or nothing situation can cause them to panic or freeze. As opposed to just saying "I believe in you. Do your best. You got this. Godspeed."
The bible is a spiritual doctrine, the text contains truth but not the same truth to every person. It's the kind of reality denying power people need in order to see themselves through "logically Impossible" scenarios like extreme hardship, disaster, illness, addiction, war, etc. It allows you to dip into a reserve of power, intelligence, and resolve beyond all "known" limitations. On order to do thst you must have faith in something greater than yourself.
Christianity is also the religion that bares the most fruit. Thousands of years strong and most prevalent in the most successful empires. Many of the world's greatest scientists were devout Christians who dedicated their entire lives having faith that this world was an intelligently created one. They were supported and funded by Christian institutions which dedicated their money toward the betterment of mankind and driven by a desire to bring us closer to understanding the Christian God. Alessandro Volta comes to mind- the Christian who we have to thank for the miraculous electronic technology we're using at this moment.
You can argue that these feats are possible without Christianity, but that claim has yet to be demonstrated as athiesm and nihilism typically bring pain and suffering rather than any form of legitimate advancement. Without God, a human life is no different than an animals or an insects. That's why athiest nations lack human rights across the board.
Humanity needs something beyond itself to strive for. We need to tap into the divine and reach for what is "logically" Impossible.
