The Large Hadron Supercollider at CERN can create any element on the periodic table, even ones that don't occur naturally in the universe, the reason they don't evolve that toward silver/gold shitting nanotech, is because the quantity of energy needed to create the element is measured in gigawatts of energy and millions of dollars of research facility time per gram of output.
That being said, the concept there is there, and so as gain of functions continue to happen with even more cleverly designed supercolliders/CERN etc, eventually in the next few hundred years it's not impossible that someone is able to make a thing the size of a building that turns a 5 acre solar farm into a gram of gold/silver per unit time.
