My paternal grandfather was with the 1. SS-Division "LAH" and he died at age 97 but unlike the Fallschirmjäger he suffered from Bone-pain (Osteoporosis) and Angina Pectoris (Heart issues).
The heart issues make sense, in fact, when i went through the documents he saved i noticed that it wans't super uncommon for 1. SS LAH frontline soldiers to suffer a heart attack or other issues on the Eastern Front.
