>>18890377When Portugal began the Age of Exploration, they had a population of 1,000,000. They had no choice but to migrate as roving conquerors and rule top down as was done in the ancient world and intermarry with the local aristocracy, most of whom were light-skinned Peruvians and Aztecca.
When England began the Age of Exploration, their population was many times higher than either Portugal or Spain, as a result of their having solved the infant mortality problem first. Thus, they could transplant entire populations to new lands, being entirely surfeit of population. The cities were crowded and dirty, but there were many people to go around. This made colonization far easier than any of the other nations. Your nation was certainly not surfeit of people at the time.
This is why America, Australia, New Zealand, far flung realms of the former empire, may not be comprised mainly of intermixed native and conqueror blood, but of native European blood, being that no such Portuguese solution was necessary. If only Spain had replicated England's miracle.
